It’s officially hot chocolate season!! I hope you are as excited as I am. Get ready to ditch boring hot chocolate packets because this boozy hot chocolate recipe will be your new go-to winter beverage… It’s pretty incredible. The best part is, it’s SO easy

What makes this boozy hot chocolate recipe so incredible?

Cocoa powder AND chocolate: Yes pleaseee. Using cocoa powder and real chocolate gives this hot chocolate the best chocolatey flavor and texture.

Booze: Of course I’ve added booze to this recipe. I used Jameson Whiskey here and it was sooooo good! Feel free to use whatever alcohol you have on hand though. This recipe will taste delicious with pretty much any alcohol.

Whole milk: Whole milk gives this recipe the super rich flavor and thick texture. You can, however, swap it out for any milk you prefer.

Substitutions

Make it vegan

Feel free to use whatever milk you prefer in this recipe. If you’re opting for a dairy-free milk, I would recommend coconut or oat milk to create a thicker texture. Then just use your favorite dairy free chocolate chips. Or, check out Ambitious Kitchen’s Healthy Vegan Hot Chocolate

Chocolate substitute

I have found that dark chocolate is my favorite to use in this recipe, but I have also tried it with milk chocolate and it’s so good either way! The dark chocolate really compliments the whiskey here. If you’re using a lighter alcohol like vodka then milk chocolate might be a better option.

Alcohol

Some of my favorite alcohols to pair with this boozy hot chocolate recipe are:

-Vodka

-Whiskey

-Bailey’s Irish Cream

-Kahlua

You can always make this recipe without the alcohol as well.
