You will soon obsess over this Kahlua coffee milkshake! It’s packed with brownie pieces, hot fudge, coffee ice cream, and of course, Kahlua. This boozy milkshake makes for the perfect summer treat.

Brownie Kahlua Coffee Milkshake Ingredients

Brownies: You can use store bought brownies, box mix, or even homemade brownies. I used Cupcake Jemma’s brownie recipe from her new cookbook cause they’re delicious!

Kahlua: You can buy this at any supermarket. Be sure to buy the original Kahlua because there’s a lot of other flavors now. This helps heighten the coffee flavor and of course, adds the booziness!

Hot fudge: Hot fudge, but cold. Adding fudge to this boozy milkshake adds a super deep chocolatey flavor that pairs perfectly with the coffee.

Coffee ice cream: Coffee flavored ice cream helps to elevate the coffee flavor in this drink. If you want less coffee flavor, feel free to use chocolate ice cream instead.

How to make a thick milkshake

Here’s the secret. You need to let your ice cream thaw enough so that you can blend it by itself. This gives you all the flavor of the ice cream and a nice, rich texture without “watering it down” with milk. If you let your ice cream sit for the full 10-15 minutes, you should only need the 2 oz of Kahlua to blend your milkshake. If you want a thinner milkshake, you can always add milk to this recipe.

Can I add more booze?

Always. Just keep in mind that your milkshake will be thinner if you keep adding liquid to it. To keep this milkshake thick, you can let your ice cream sit out for less time so that it’s firmer when you blend it. With the extra Kahlua, it should blend fine.

Other mix-in ideas

For a peanut butter variation: Replace the 2 Tbs of hot fudge with peanut butter. Feel free to add some reese’s cups in there as well!

Rocky road: Add in 2 Tbs of marshmallow fluff and 2 Tbs of nuts of your choice.

Caramel coffee: Replace hot fudge with 2 Tbs of caramel sauce.

Ingredients

  • 10 oz Coffee ice cream, softened 1 ¼ cups
  • 2 oz Kahlua 2 shots
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot fudge topping, cold
  • 65 g Brownie pieces Heaping ¼ cup

Instructions

  • Let your ice cream sit out at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until it's soft enough to measure.
  • Add your ice cream, Kahlua, brownie pieces, and fudge to a blender. Blend for 10-15 seconds until just combined. Do not over blend!! This will give you a really thin milkshake.

Notes

If your milkshake is too thick, you can thin it out by adding more Kahlua or milk 1/2 Tbs at a time. Or, simply wait for the ice cream to melt a little more.
